The design principal of Yachts By Design is Theresa DePonceau-Usina. After completing an education in Fine Arts & Interior Design at SCAD, Theresa began her design career in NY. While in NY, her focus was primarily in residential design. In 1986 she became a key member in a construction company, which provided her invaluable first hand experience dealing with residential new construction and remodeling.

Since her move to Florida in 1997 her career pursuits led her to marine interior design on behalf of Sea Ray Boats.  As Sea Ray's Interior Designer, Theresa oversaw all aspects of Interior Design for up to 160 yachts annually. She acted as a liaison within Sea Ray’s corporate sales department with yacht dealers, their clients and manufacturing. Collaborating with Sea Ray’s product development and engineering on all phases of yacht interior design of new product conceptualization, space planning, & finish selection. Demanding completion schedules and a vast client base provided her the ultimate designer proving ground. Her affiliation with Sea Ray also afforded her opportunities to travel abroad and work with Paolo Vitelli and his design group within Azimut Yachts. Other notable marine accounts include Lazarra Yachts, Silverton Marine, Ovation Yachts & Hunter Marine. Yachts By Design enjoys an exclusive re-fit agreement with Lazarra Yachts Seafit center located in St. Augustine Florida.
